How the Program Works:
1. First, you must decide to make an investment of time and money in your health.
2. Next you gather together any lab testing you have had in the last year.
3. When you are ready, you fill out the form (under “Submit Forms”) and submit the fee.
Then I will contact you so we can agree upon a time for a ~20 minute phone consultation.
During that call we will discuss your labs, expectations and what we could do to optimize
your health. At that point, you can decide whether or not to proceed with the full program. Even if you do not opt for the full program you will come away from this session with a reading list, supplement recommendation, and a personalized discussion of your health issues.
4. Once you decide to proceed with the full program, you will get results of your last
pap smear and mammogram (within a year) or, if male, prostate exam from your primary provider.
5. If you have never had an EKG you will need a baseline. (I can order tests if necessary
or go through your Primary Care Provider.)
6. We will do a saliva test kit and other labs as needed. When the results come back I
will come to your office (or you can meet with me in my consultation room) for a ~2
hour induction. During that time I will go over your results in depth, and write
prescriptions to begin hormone optimization. We will discuss your exercise, sleep and
nutrition and plans for improvement. I will give you a list of supplementation and
resources for obtaining what you need. All this will be personalized to you—not one size
fits all. You will have a binder with all the information so you can have a reference when
you need it.
7. Following that, I will call or meet with you quarterly, adjusting your program as
needed until you are stabilized. When you are stabilized (usually in a year for men and
two for women) you will be in a monitoring mode with reduced fees unless—as
sometimes happens with aging—you go through another period of change that needs
close adjustment and monitoring. You will be able to text me with questions or issues as
they arise, and we can set up convenient phone calls as needed.
Some things to consider: I do not supplant your Primary Care Provider. This is why
some people refer to this branch of medicine as “Complementary or Integrative”.
I provide a consultative service in addition to your regular conventional medical care.
Usually those two medical regimes are not in conflict, but occasionally my
recommendation will not be that of your primary physician. Keep in mind that every
time you go to a doctor you are getting an opinion. There is no such thing as absolute
truth in science, and in medicine it is the role of your provider to make judgements about
the available science, and apply those judgements to your health. Progress in medicine is
due to dissent—to doctors who step out of the herd and find a better way. I will offer you
my opinion, and ultimately you must choose the path to follow.
Nothing in life is risk free. I cannot promise you a risk free existence. We all have a risk
of developing cancer, dementia, stroke, heart attack, and other diseases. My goal is to
minimize that risk but it will never go to zero. Before any prescriptions are written, you
will be asked to sign a disclaimer that you understand all medical interventions carry
risks and that you are willing to accept the risks inherent in anti-aging therapy.
When you lose your hormones you have changed your body composition in many
ways—some obvious, some not. It takes two years to heal anything—even a paper cut.
So it will take time to reach maximum medical benefit. Patience is a virtue that we hate
to exercise, but in this case it is imperative. That is not to say you might not see some
immediate benefit…Most people see change very early, but as will be discussed in depth, the changes first require optimal levels of hormones and sleep and a good diet to replace the bad proteins and lipids in your body with good healthy ones. Then, as you continue to practice an anti-aging lifestyle you will continue to improve.
